Update on the Leaked Harry Potter preview (36minutes) from Wired magazine.. Looks like I’m not the only cynical person….
One of the most interesting leaks of the year has just occurred with the appearance of the first 36 minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 on dozens of BitTorrent sites. The upcoming Harry Potter film will have its worldwide premiere later this week, but not before hundreds and thousands of people have grabbed a copy of an extended preview on BitTorrent.
Interestingly, Warner Bros have vowed to prosecute the leaker, when this being only 36minutes, and very high quality, would lead one to assume, if they were of a cynical mind, that warner bros themselves have leaked this as a brilliant publicity stunt. hmmmm

Copyright laws… basically unethical and illogical but oh how the “recording and Film producer Industry” love them!
Here is the full consolidated text of the ACTA agreement [PDF Format], dated July 1st 2010.
This is the full text from the Luzern round of negotiations, including the name of the negotiating parties along with their positions. It apparently comes from the civil liberties committee (LIBE) of the European Parliament.
Stay tuned for an analysis from both Micheal Geist, Techdirt, et.al [and most likely myself in my other guise]
Well that was certainly a very quick judgement from the US courts.
It seems that Judge Louis Stanton of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York has granted Youtube’s motion for summary judgment . The opinion holds that YouTube (and therefore also Google) was protected by the DMCA’s safe harbor provisions (section 512C) against copyright infringement claims, and is protected when working with copyright holders to help defend their rights online.
It seems that common sense has prevailed.. Whodathunkit!
The opinion for those who want to know more is available here,
Youtube’s blog post about it all is found here
