William Shatner Sings “Fuck You” on television

Only in the USA can you not say “Fuck” on TV at ANY TIME! whereas in the EU or Australia/NZ we hear it all after 9:30 on Public Television (and even beforehand on cable) and OMG see nudity too..

Go Shatner! Stick it to the man in the FCC [F*king Cencorship C***]

Tumblr Potty Mouth

I was browsing through http://userscripts.org before (the script holding service for anyone using greasemonkey etc on firefox) and searched on tumblr, and other than the few normal scripts that abound (including a few I use myself) I came across this gem.

Tumblr Potty Mouth (found here)
Cleans up all the F***yeah links so you don’t have to read the bad word
The description reads: Tumblr has this mini-meme to have all these blogs titled “f***yeah-something.” Many of these blogs are fantastic to follow, but I got tired of reading the bad word everyday. It’s just not good for the spirit.
So I whipped up this little script. It will replace links to those blogs with the starred out version.

I have to ask why? and what’s the deal with calling “fuck” a bad word? how can a WORD be bad. Isn’t the bad part in how the word is used by the person using it? Not to mention the context in which it is used?

For example Bloody is a word that can be used in a multitude of ways. “That wound is extremely bloody” or “Bloody hell You annoy me”. The word is not bad, good or indiferent. The contextual USE of it is the problem. Also it is dependant also on the society and its current mores. Again though the word is not the problem.

Language is a form of communication, and to deny that it exists is worse than burning books IMHO, it’s burning the process by which thoughts, ideas, and the human condition is placed into those books.

As for the script.. It works how it should and quite well infact. I think I might edit it and every time the phrase “Bad word” pops up it makes it flash in big red letters instead.

PS: For those wanting to know what scripts I do recommend for tumblr:
tumblr full photo link - Adds link to the High resolution photos to tumblr dashboard and liked pages.
Tumblr Dashboard Filter by Post Type - Allows filtering by Everything, Photo, Text, Video, etc on “Whole Tumblr”, “Your Posts”, and “Who you follow”
Tumblr Dock Badge
- Display a dock badge for the Tumblr Dashboard with the number of new posts
